Ill. man charged with allegedly orchestrating murder-for-hire plot that killed ex-wife’s new girlfriend

COLLINSVILLE, In poor health. (TCN) — Prosecutors filed prices towards three males who allegedly participated in a murder-for-hire plot that resulted within the deadly capturing of a lady exterior her house.

Based on the Collinsville Police Division, on Jan. 21 at 6 a.m., officers responded to the 1300 block of Olive Road and located a lady close to her storage affected by gunshot wounds. The sufferer, 32-year-old Portia Rowland, was pronounced deceased on the scene. Collinsville Police requested help from the Main Case Squad of Higher St. Louis, and 30 investigators arrived to affix the investigation.

Madison County State’s Legal professional Thomas Haine stated Rowland’s dying “was not a random act of violence, however fairly, this was a calculated and cold-hearted murder-for-hire scheme based mostly on a private grievance.”

Investigators first arrested 33-year-old Marty Shaw, the person they allege drove suspected co-conspirator Gary Johnson to Rowland’s home. Officers positioned Johnson, who’s a convicted felon of first-degree homicide, and apprehended him. Quickly after that, police arrested Sammy Shafer. All three males are being charged with first-degree homicide, whereas Shafer has a further cost of solicitation of homicide and Johnson with one depend of felon in possession of a firearm.

Haine alleges Shafer paid Johnson and Shaw $10,000 to hold out Rowland’s killing, which is why he’s being charged with first-degree homicide.

KSDK-TV experiences Shafer’s estranged spouse was in a relationship with Rowland.

Haine stated in an announcement, “This was a horrific and deliberate act of violence that has left an indelible mark on our group. Our objective is to ship a transparent message: those that conspire to commit homicide, for any purpose, shall be caught, and can face extreme penalties. We stay steadfast in our mission to guard the folks of Madison County and be sure that victims and their family members obtain the justice they deserve.”
